2nd International Workshop on:
Smart Cities Architecture and Implementation Workshop
(In conjunction with MobiQuitous 2019)
This 2 days workshop will address the practical aspects of using Internet of Things (IoT) technology to deliver smart city solutions. It will start with a hands-on explanation of the technology. A brief tutorial on the Open Messaging Interface (O-MI) and Open Data Format (O-DF) IoT standards which helps in solving interoperability problem between various organizations. It will be followed by a practical session that sets up an O-MI node and to connect sensing equipment and obtain readings from them. Participants will be invited to develop their own applications, using various IoT devices and command-line scripts.
This will be a fast-moving and interactive workshop where we will provide the following IoT sensors and computing platforms. You are also welcome to bring your own devices. The workshop will primarily focus on:
- How to interact with ESP8266 Wi-Fi microchip and Raspberry Pi embedded boards.
- Understanding how to install 1-wire sensor, S-100 CO2 sensor, and SHT20 sensor (temperature and humidity sensor).
- Learning how to use O-MI and O-DF standards for providing peer-to-peer communication and publishing/consuming sensor values.
- Obtaining your laptop’s CPU temperature and publishing its value through O-MI/O-DF node.
